    Arrangements for Admission

Children starting school for the very first time are admitted to Pemberley Academy once a year, sometime in July; depending upon the number of pupils being admitted in any given cohort.

Pemberley Academy Primary School is able to admit 30 pupils into any year group from Reception to Year 6. Once this number has been reached the school is considered to be full in that particular age group.

The Governors have adopted the Authority’s admissions policy under which there is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area. In the event of over-subscription the following criteria will be applied, in the order given, to determine allocation of available places:

    · Children looked after

    · Children with a sibling already attending the school

. Children of school staff fulfilling a skills shortage role

    · Children living in the priority admission area

    · Children living outside the priority admission area

    · Remaining applications.

Should there be over-subscription within any of the above criteria priority will be given to those families living closest, in straight-line distance, to the school. Exceptional medical circumstances (supported by evidence) may override the above criteria. The Pupil Services Department of the Local Authority considers applications for the admission of children, not the school itself.

Details about this are available from the school office.

*Please note that this admissions policy is currently out for consultation and is subject to change

Applying for a mid-year place at our school

All mid-year applications should be made directly to the school office. The mid-year application form can be obtained by emailing or calling the school [email protected] or 01279 215745. Mid-year applications (sometimes called in-year applications) are any application for a school place made to a year group, apart from September admissions to Reception.
For applications into existing year groups, a place will be offered when the number of pupils in the relevant year group is below the admission number for that year group.
Please note: if a mid-year application is received during a school holiday period, we will respond as soon as possible when the school reopens.
