Behaviour at Pemberley Academy
Our Ethos and Values
At Pemberley Academy, we believe every child deserves a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Our behaviour expectations are built around our Be Your BEST principles:

- Be Kind and Respectful – We value kindness, empathy, and understanding in every interaction.
- Engage in Your Learning – Pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and participate actively.
- Stay Safe – Safety is paramount, both physically and emotionally, for all members of our school community.
- Try Your Best – Effort and perseverance are celebrated as much as achievement.
These principles underpin our approach to behaviour and relationships across the school.
Rewards
We celebrate positive behaviour through a range of rewards that reinforce our values:

- Verbal Praise – Immediate recognition for positive actions.
- Dojos – Points awarded for demonstrating our values.
- Weekly Certificates – Celebrating effort, kindness, and achievement.
- Postcards Home – Sharing successes with families.
- SLT Prize – Special recognition from the Senior Leadership Team.
- Lunchtime Party – A fun reward for consistent positive behaviour.
Rewards are inclusive and accessible to all pupils, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Consequences
When behaviour falls short of expectations, we use a clear and supportive approach:

- Verbal Warning – A chance to reflect and correct behaviour.
- Time Out on the Carpet – A short break to calm down and refocus.
- Sent to Another Classroom – Removing disruption while maintaining learning.
- Sent to SLT – For serious or repeated incidents, involving senior staff.
Our aim is always to help pupils learn from mistakes. Through restorative conversations, pupils reflect on what happened, who was affected, and how to make things right.
Why It Matters
Positive behaviour is essential for creating a safe and happy school where learning thrives. By following our Be Your BEST principles, every child contributes to a community built on respect, responsibility, and resilience.
